September Featured Athlete - Robb Jetty

1. Where are you from?

I was born in Fairport, NY (Rochester), but spent my childhood outside of Philadelphia (Downingtown) and Jr. High/High School north of Ithaca outside Aurora, NY.

2. What brought you to Ithaca ?

My wife Lauren and I lived here in our mid 20s and moved back here in our late 30s to start our family which we wanted to do near my parents who still live here.

3. What's your athletic background?

I played soccer year round on multiple teams from the time I was 5 until I graduated high school and then two years of semi-pro when I was in my twenties. My only claim to fame is that I still hold the record for career goals scored at my high school. I've also been a life long downhill skier and golfer.

4. What motivates you?

I have always been a very competitive person and I love CF becuase it has offered me a new way to compete against myself in a structured environment.

5. What's a CF goal that you've crossed off your list?

TTB. I can't do that many unbroken yet, but I never imagined I would ever be able to do it when I started CF in January.

6. What's a future goal?

CF - Walking on my hands. Personal - climbing all 46 Adirondack high peaks with my wife and kids. We started working on it during COVID and really enjoy the challenge together as a family.

7. If you could write a METCON, what would it look like?

I like the workouts that are greatly varied. Probably something like 10 TTB, heavy dead lift, 10 over bar burpees, and 300M bike - as many rounds as possible in 16 minutes.

8. What do you do for work?

I'm the Chief Operating Officer for DSD Renewables. We build, own, and operated solar power projects all over the country and sell the electricity to our customers like Lowes, Home Depot, Verizon, TMobile, and many municipalities.

9. What do you do for self care?

CF is obvioulsy the big one, but while it's hard to do with kids and a demanding job, I try hard to ensure a healthy work/life balance. I find that exercise and time away from work makes me more effective at work and a better partner/father at home.

10. Do you have any pets?

Two dogs - Maggie and Tess.

11. Where's your favorite place to eat in Ithaca?

There are so many good places but I'd have to say The Heights is the best.

12. What's your go-to meal to cook at home?

I really love making big Tuscan style dinners with friends and good wine, but as far as go-to on the regular it would have to be vegetarian pad-thai.

13. What's your favorite sweet?

I'm not a big sweets person, but I love blackberry ice cream.

14. Can you please tell us about your soccer background and the success you had with it?

I touched on it above but I'll add that I played club soccer for the Ithaca Blitz year round from 6th to 12th grade while going to school at Soutern Cayuga so I made a great bunch of Ithaca friends that I am still in touch with.

15. Your son recently joined CFP, how has that been for you two? Are you competitive against each other? It's been great. He really enjoys it and I love having him there. We're not competitive with each other yet - but he's a lot stronger than I was at his age so I'm sure he's going to quickly pass me.

16. If someone was hesitant about joining Pallas, what would you tell them?

Don't be! I was in terrible shape when I started in January of 23 and after doing CF just 3 days a week, I haven't felt this strong and healthy since my 20s.
